Environmental Credibility Make People in Texas Mad
Posted by: Alexa Wright / Category: Climate ChangePeople for the most part want to protect the environment regardless of their political affiliation. The problem is that people do not want to put their time and energy into something that keeps showing itself as an outright lie and fraud. Also unrealistic expectations are trying to be enforced that make no sense as just about every single product, service, and resource is created using a petroleum based fuel source. The greenest among us drives a car and many of these take vacations to Europe on a frequent basis all the way from the US.
Considering that the American consumer lives in, eats from, and drives in things that were made with petroleum products the idea of making oil and petroleum something evil would put everyone in the world in the hypocritical camp of do as I say not as I do. We all love to drive around in our cars, drink from paper and plastic cups, and buy cool looking T-Shirts. All of the consumer activity we participate can happen because of crude oil and CO2 emissions.
People in states like Texas are called flat earthers and heretics for saying things like manmade climate change does not exist. Although conservative states like Texas do want to keep the country clean they also want to refine and sell oil. If you think about oil actually provides a significant improvement to our living conditions that far outweighs the negatives of pollution. Pollution is still bad and must be improved upon but to make oil into something evil is just hypocritical as we all use oil based products.
I will admit states like Pennsylvania and Texas that have many coal-fired power plants need to continually improve their efforts at cleaning up pollution and making their power plants less polluting but to say that CO2 emissions cause man made climate change and impose large energy taxes on electricity consumers is ludicrous. Man made climate change is based on 30 year old models that have predicted 84 different climate catastrophes incorrectly. These cataclysmic events are the political attempt at popularizing the idea of a global carbon tax to reduce global warming. The issue at hand is that there are more politicians and scientists that disagree with the science of manmade climate change then agree on it.
Texas is truly a unique state as we do make a lot of money from the petroleum industry but we are open minded enough to retrofit our outdated technology and create new technology to keep our state clean. There was even a clean up the road program started in Tyler Texas that eventually spread throughout the US and it is totally voluntary and does not need to use tax payer dollars. Texas is one of the biggest producers of energy related fuels and we use a lot of that energy in the form of electricity power as well. We sell our energy to other states and reap the profits but those other states receive very cheap electricity rates and other benefits as a result of innovation Texas does. Texas may have a few hillbilly’s but we also know a thing or two about keeping things clean and protecting the environment even in the face of hypocrisy from other states.
