With the ozone layer rapidly depleting and the smog levels in major cities dangerously high, more Americans are starting to become interested in purchasing green cars. The American Council for an Energy have announced their top picks for environmentally-friendly cars of the year 2011 and the long awaited results are finally in; Honda’s Civic GX, the first ever commercially produced gas car gets the very top spot. The Ford Fiesta SFE also receives recognition by being one of the thirteen cars on the list. Autos were judged based on mileage, emissions that are harmful to the environment.
